SUMMARY:Troop Kick Off 2026
LOCATION:Camp McLean - 20315 16th Avenue\, Langley
DESCRIPTION:Troop Kickoff 2026 will be at McLean\, October 16-18.\n \nEvent costs should be similar to last year\, but have not been finalized.\nWe have the entire camp booked\, so if you have some young/inexperienced Scouts or Scouters\, we have the Rotary and Butcher Cabins available (at an extra cost over regular registration fees) on a first-come basis.\n \nSept. 8 - Teams Meeting for Troop Kickoff (at least one attendee per Group) - Q&amp\;A about event and Preliminary attendee numbers. Teams invite will be emailed to all Troop\, Company and Crew Scouters and all GC's in a separate email from Tony Nathan.\n \nOctober 2 - Registration Deadline for Troop Kickoff\n \nOctober 4 at 7PM and October 5 at 7PM - Finalization meeting (Teams) for Troop Kickoff - at least one rep from each Group needs to attend ONE of these two meetings.\n \nWhat is Troop Kickoff?\nTroop Kickoff is a camp to learn Scouting skills. We break Troops into patrols of up to 8 youth and at least one scouter. If you have 15 youth and 3 scouters attending\, we will create a patrol of 7 and a patrol of 8. You determine which youth are in which patrol\, and which scouters are with each patrol. If you have 4 youth and one Scouter\, we will try to link you up with a similar sized patrol/Troop. \nYour patrol will visit 6 stations over the course of the day. Each station will teach different skills or have a different activity...hopefully aligned with our (to be determined) camp theme. If you have two patrols attending\, you are welcome to have one station that works with two patrols simultaneously. There are many station subject ideas that fit this model. It's also a good way to meet your station obligations if you are short of station hosts.\n \nAbout the Stations\nFor each patrol you have attending the event\, you need to organize and staff a station. I will be asking for station subjects so I can group them. In past years\, we have had between 20 and 35 stations\, and Patrols only attend 6\, so having duplicate subjects at stations is totally fine. We have some folks who present a station but are sending a patrol\, so we can work with you on that. Keep in mind\, if your station "no shows" at the event\, there are six patrols looking to visit your station over the course of the day\, and you have let them down.\n \nI want to add more youth to the organizing side of this event. Venturers or Rovers looking for King's Venturer Award/Canadian Rover Award projects or service hours\, please let me know. I can add you to the event Discord. This event is the same weekend as JOTA\, but we have lots or tasks that happen outside the actual event weekend\, and new faces and perspectives are welcome.\n \nOnce we have a theme\, I will be asking for badge design ideas. We will vote on the ideas at the camp and then the badges are distributed in early December.\n\nYours in Scouting\,\n \nTony Nathan (he/him)\nCouncil Commissioner ǀ Fraser Valley Council\nSection Support Scouter (Troop) ǀ Fraser Valley Council\nGroup Support Scouter ǀ Fraser Valley Council\nScouter ǀ 4th Surdel Scout Group\n\nFor more details on this ScoutsTracker event\, go to\nhttps://scoutstracker.ca/venturers/view?event=2-3316-36594914609090-be1b00191828f5095347
