SUMMARY:CubStart Camp 2026
LOCATION:Camp McLean - 20315 16th Avenue Langley
DESCRIPTION:Planning Meeting will be in late August at 7:00pm (Camp McLean - Erickson Firepit). Please plan to send a Scouter that is attending camp and (preferably) not new to Pack in Sept. 2026 as it will be much easier for YOUR Pack if the Scouter attending the planning meeting has some experience with Cubs.\n \nOur first big Pack event of the year! We will be renting ALL of Camp McLean so that we can accommodate everyone while still leaving lots of open space to move around. \n \nThe weekend's program will have a focus on Outdoor Adventure Skills such as fire-building\, pioneering skills\, survival skills and hiking. Canadian Path elements will be updated on ScoutsTracker after camp to aid Scouters in updating their individual Cub's achievements. All Packs planning to attend will need to send a representative to the planning meeting in late August. Youth will be divided up by age group as opposed to your entire Pack travelling to each station together and each Pack is responsible for working with another Pack to run a station. While your Scouters are running your station there will be other Scouters available to supervise your Cubs and then you will do the same for the other Packs - we all work together to run stations and supervise the Cubs and we haven't lost one yet!!\n \nThere will be two options for registration:\n \nFull Weekend - this will be from Friday night until Sunday at 11:00am. Cost of camp is $20 per Youth and $5 for Scouters and Kims. Groups will be responsible for providing meals for their Cubs and Scouters. If a Cub needs a Parent to attend for support - the cost for the parent is also $20.\n \nDay Camp only - Saturday from morning until after campfire. Groups will be responsible for providing meals for their Cubs and Scouters. Cost of day camp will be $15 per Youth and $5 for Scouters to cover the cost of facility rental\, camp crest and activity supplies. Groups coming for Day Camp only will not be able to camp overnight on Friday or Saturday. If a Cub needs a Parent to attend for support - the cost for the parent is also $15.\n \nThe final schedule\, registration information and planning meeting information will be attached to this event in Scoutstracker after the planning meeting in August.\n \nAll Youth and Adults attending must appear as ACTIVE in MyScouts before attending camp (Note: New Youth can register after June 1st therefore they would also be active in time for camp). \n \nRegistration forms (names\, ages\, medical information) are due NO LATER THAN SEPTEMBER 20th. Due to the tight timeline - NO late registrations/fees will be accepted - we need numbers so that we can ensure program organizers know how many Cubs to expect in each age group (Runners/Trackers/Howlers)\n \nPlease contact Barb Taylor at barb.taylor@scouts.ca if you have any questions\n\nFor more details on this ScoutsTracker event\, go to\nhttps://scoutstracker.ca/cubs/view?event=0-1504-131455517451872-94051c9faf21e9f6e5f0

SUMMARY:Bottle Drive Flyers
LOCATION:Townhouse #12\; 221 Ash Street\, New Westminster BC\, V3M 3M5
DESCRIPTION:Our annual winter bottle drive will be taking place on Saturday\, January 3\, 2026. In advance of the drive\, we hand out flyers along the routes we will be collecting bottles. It is very important for families to participate in both handing out flyers and the bottle drive itself. This is a critical funding source for our program and helps fund costs associated with our facility rentals for weekly meetings and our camps.\n \nFamilies are welcome to stop by 12 - 221 Ash Street (https://maps.app.goo.gl/dsyknkaWeQo9q8wQ9) any day after 7am to pick up flyers to distribute. Many hands make light work and we expect each youth to do one or two routes. If you are new to our bottle drive or haven't distributed flyers previously\, I will be on site on Saturday\, December 20 from 10am - 10:30am to walk you through the routes and answer any questions you may have. \n \nWe need to have all flyers distributed on or before December 30. This is a great opportunity to get the kids outside for fresh air over the holiday break. We appreciate your support!\n\nFor more details on this ScoutsTracker event\, go to\nhttps://scoutstracker.ca/cubs/view?event=0-1504-133116629814896-777017e135ac25c1a885

SUMMARY:Meeting #27 - camp prep
LOCATION:Gym\; Glenbrook Middle School
DESCRIPTION:Join us for our last meeting before year end camp. Year end camp is this June 5 - 7 at Horne Lake on Vancouver island. As we will be walking on the ferry\, cubs who are attending year end camp are asked to bring their packed camping bag to our regular meeting on June 1. Please ensure to use a proper backpack or duffel bag and label the bag with your cub's name. Bags brought to the June 1 meeting will travel separately from our group\, and will meet your cub at the camp. This will make the ferry trip easier\, as the youth won't need to be carrying their full camp pack and can simply bring a daypack with items they would want on hand during travel\, such as a water bottle and a packed dinner to eat on the ferry ride over. Youth who do not bring their camping gear to the June 1 meeting will need to personally carry their gear onto the ferry on June 5. A basic camp packing list can be viewed here: https://wiki.newwestscouts.ca/index.php/Basic_Scout_Packing_List (https://wiki.newwestscouts.ca/index.php/Basic_Scout_Packing_List)\n \nReminders for all meetings\n* Please bring $1 Dues to each meeting. SUMMARY:Spring Bottle Drive
LOCATION:City Works Yard at 901 First Street
DESCRIPTION:This year\, the Spring bottle drive is based out the City Works Yard at 901 First Street.\n \nDate: Saturday\, May 30\, 2025\nTime: 10:00 AM start\, 3:00 PM end.\nCollection Location: City Works Yard at 901 First Street\, just a block west of Royal Centre Mall (Safeway)\nWhy?: Raise funds to help fund the youth program.\n \nA warm lunch of hot dogs and hot chocolate will be provided by the Group. \n \nYouth should be wearing their full uniforms. \n \nWe would like parents to remain and participate by taking their kids out on the routes rather than just dropping them off. You are welcome to join us for the entire time or for the time you have available. If you are able to bring a vehicle suitable for collecting returnable bottles and cans (a pickup is perfect) then that will help us out a lot.\n \nWe are planning to cover these neighbourhoods: Kelvin North\, Glenbrooke North\, and Massey/Victory Heights and some of Sapperton.\n \nTypically\, a vehicle will pick one of the ~50 routes and take a few parents/kids and drive the route. The kids must knock on every door and say what they are doing and what they are collecting for (fundraising for the 12th New Westminster Scout Group to send kids to camp).\n \nWhen the vehicle is full\, take it back to the Works Yard to unload. Then go out and do another route or finish your route. Repeat until done.\n \nNote that we need to follow the two Scouter rule - i.e. two adults with youth at all times.\n \nThis year\, we don't need to sort the bottles and cans - simply put them in the large bins. This will allow more time for collecting and less time spent sorting.\n\nFor more details on this ScoutsTracker event\, go to\nhttps://scoutstracker.ca/cubs/view?event=0-1504-46292521778047-8d006f18a4f84a83cb9d

Repeat until done.\n \n\nFor more details on this ScoutsTracker event\, go to\nhttps://scoutstracker.ca/cubs/view?event=0-1504-133578815587915-4bef0fbdad3f687fc003
