Cubs and 3rd year beavers are invited to come along for our year end cub camp at Horne Lake caves.\n \nTransportation\n* Parents will drop off cubs at the Tswassen ferry terminal at 3:30 pm. \n* Cubs\, Scouters\, and participating Beaver parents will travel on the 4:30pm ferry from Tswassen\, arriving at Duke Point at 6:30pm\n* Vancouver Island Coach Lines will transport our group from Duke Point to the campsite\n* The group will be returning on the 12:45pm ferry from Duke Point\, arriving in Tswassen at 2:45pm\n* Parents will pick up youth at the passenger pick up area at the ferry terminal\n \nGear transport\n* to assist youth in travelling\, group gear will be transported in the group trailer. Youth will be instructed to pack their large camping backpack/duffel bag for the meeting prior to camp. These bags will be loaded into the trailer and brough directly to camp. Only gear that the youth will not need during travel should be in this bag (e.g. sleeping bag\, sleeping mat\, clothing\, mess kit\, etc).\n* Youth should bring a daypack for travel with water\, personal medication or items such as sunglasses and hats\, and a bagged dinner to eat on the ferry\n* When returning on Sunday\, the group will arrange a meeting point to pick up the large bags from the trailer. Parents should be aware that drop off is very busy and we ask to bring your patience and to follow directions of the volunteers directing traffic. You will not be able to park or leave your vehicle. Scouters will be at the drop off site to collect your youth and direct them to our camp site. Please ensure your cub knows they are with 12th New Westminster as this can help get them reunited with our group quicker if they become separated.\n \nPlease ensure your cub has eaten dinner before arriving at camp.\n \nFriday night offers an optional badge trading event. Youth who have badges for trading can bring them to camp to participate. Hosted by 12th New Westminster\, Hyack Camp takes place on the weekend of May 23-25\, 2025.\n \nThis year's theme is Hyack and the Holy Grail\, so bring out your dead and come prepared with your best Monty Python impressions.\n \nWe've got an awesome weekend planned for you with tons of traditional Hyack Camp activities:\n\n* Bubble soccer\n* Human fooseball\n* Foam sword jousting\n* Site decoration contest - Theme is Hyack and the Holy Grail\, but decorations can encompass any Monty Python sketch.\n* The Hyack Parade - We will take part in the parade as a marching unit\, and we will be looking for a couple of volunteer Scouts from each group to help carry signs and banners for the parade organizers.\n* Cooking competition - Troops will be provided with a secret ingredient\, which must be incorporated into your meal. This camp is open to Howlers (3rd year cubs) as an opportunity to link up with our Scout Troop. \; Please note that Howlers are expected to participate in the meal planning and shopping prior to Hyack\, and be assigned a Patrol at camp. \; This means they will be assigned a share of the duty roster\, which includes cooking and cleanup with the other members of their Patrol. \; This is a great introduction to Scouts\, which our 3rd year cubs will be leaping up to at the end of the year.
