You are welcome to join us for the entire time or for the time you have available. If you are able to bring a vehicle suitable for collecting returnable bottles and cans (a pickup is perfect) then that will help us out a lot.\n \nWe are planning to cover these neighbourhoods: Kelvin North\, Glenbrooke North\, and Massey/Victory Heights and some of Sapperton. Maybe more if we have the energy.\n \nTypically\, a vehicle will pick one of the ~50 routes and take a few parents/kids and drive the route. The kids must knock on every door and say what they are doing and what they are collecting for (fundraising for the 12th New Westminster Scout Group to send kids to camp).\n \nWhen the vehicle is full\, take it back to the Works Yard to unload. Then go out and do another route or finish your route. Repeat until done.\n \nNote that we need to follow the two Scouter rule - i.e. two adults with youth at all times.\n \nThis year\, we don't need to sort the bottles and cans - simply put them in the large bins. This will allow more time for collecting and less time spent sorting.\n\nFor more details on this ScoutsTracker event\, go to\nhttps://scoutstracker.ca/scouts/view?event=1-468-132161245414078-244c8ecaaed0d2eb8bf9

SUMMARY:All-Section Mount Seymour Winter Camp
LOCATION:https://maps.app.goo.gl/P1Z9FAwCLuWYxjoH7\; Camp Luther\, Mount Seymour
DESCRIPTION:=== Camp details: ===\nThis is our annual all-Section winter camp at Mount Seymour that includes Beavers\, Cubs\, Scouts and Venturers.\n \nThe Beavers and some Cubs will sleep in the main cabin (on bunkbeds with mattresses). Some senior Cubs and some Scouters will be in tents. Meals will be prepared and eaten inside the cabin. We are planning day hikes\, snow shoeing (snow permitting) and other activities over the weekend. The Venturers help out cooking and running the camp and typically sleep in the main hall.\n \nYouth and scouters tenting outside will be camped in the snow surrounding the chalet.\n \nA packing list will be provided by your Section Scouter. It is essentially the same as any other camp\, but we don't need sleeping foamies (for those in the cabin) and we don't need to bring a mess kit.\n \nYour Section will have a cold weather talk at a meeting prior to the camp.\n \nYouth camping outside should assemble the cold weather gear they're planning to take to camp and bring it in your backpack to a meeting. This includes sleeping bag\, sleeping pad\, winter boots\, gloves/mitts/toques\, long johns\, etc. This will help us make sure they are prepared and that there are no surprises when they arrive on the first night (running shoes\, no jacket\, etc.). It will likely be cold at night so it is important that they keep warm and dry. \n \nThe camp fee is $60.00 for members and $50 for parents and should be given to your Section Leader or electronically through the payment link provided. The cost for the bus is covered in the camp fee. Due to space limitation\, we must limit parent attendance to one Beaver parent per child. \n \nFood is provided so there is no need to bring your own. At Mt. Seymour\, all the dishes and cooking gear is there\, so there is also no need to bring a mess kit.\n \nLabel\, label\, label. Everything must have your name on it. There will 50 pairs of black snowboots by the door...\n\n=== Transportation details: ===\nThe cabin is located about 200m south-west of parking lot 1 at the Mount Seymour ski resort: https://maps.app.goo.gl/P1Z9FAwCLuWYxjoH7 (https://maps.app.goo.gl/P1Z9FAwCLuWYxjoH7)\n \nThere can be limited parking on site so we have arranged for bus transportation. \n \nBus Details:\n* Drop-off at Glenbrook Middle School at 6:00PM on January 16\, 2026. The bus will leave at 6:15 sharp. "If you are on time\, you are late."\n* Pick-up at Glenbrook Middle School at about 12:00 noon on January 18\, 2026.\n* Reserve your spot on the bus here: https://scouts-canada---12th-new-westminster.square.site/product/bus-transportation/6 (https://scouts-canada---12th-new-westminster.square.site/product/bus-transportation/6) \n \nIf you are planning to drive your youth to and from camp\, drop-off is between 7:00 and 7:30 pm and pick-up is Sunday at 11:00 am. When you arrive you will need to escort your youth to the cabin which is in a clearing about 200m to the southwest of the parking lot. Note that the parking lot is near the top of the mountain close to the ski area.\n\nFor more details on this ScoutsTracker event\, go to\nhttps://scoutstracker.ca/scouts/view?event=1-468-55319276192189-14d8cb9ed73f33b651ec

SUMMARY:Gravestone Cleaning - Veterans Grave Cleaning
LOCATION:Fraser Cemetery - meet in the cemetery\, 200m southeast of the Office on Richmond St.
DESCRIPTION:Gravestone cleaning\nJust before Remembrance Day our Group goes to the Fraser Cemetery and clean the gravestones of veterans. We do this in cooperation with The Society of the Officers of the Honorable Guard (SOHG). We have been doing this for a number of years and find it a great way to give back to the community. The youth receive credit for community service hours which counts towards their Top Section Award.\n \nIf you are interested in attending\, please stay in your family group\, and bring your own cleaning supplies:\n* Rubber gloves\n* Water bucket (water is available at the cemetery)\n* Soft scrub brush\n* Plastic scraper\n* Sponges\n* No detergents\n* Dress for the weather\n* Wear your necker\, but you don't need to wear your uniform as it may get muddy\n* Kneeling pad (gardening pad) to kneel on.\n \nRequire that parents attend with their children regardless of Section.\n \n \n\nFor more details on this ScoutsTracker event\, go to\nhttps://scoutstracker.ca/scouts/view?event=1-468-62817591979315-f281512713025873ba74

Parking is available at the meeting location. \n \nEach youth should have:\n* clothes appropriate for the evening\, along with a waterproof jacket and socks\n* good\, proper hiking shoes for hitting the trail\n* snacks to provide energy throughout the evening\n* a headlamp or flashlight (trails are VERY dark) with spare batteries\n* a water bottle (there are a couple places throughout the park to fill it)\n* a travel mug for hot chocolate at stations that are providing it (stations do NOT provide cups)\n* a sturdy backpack to hold everything in\, that's fitted properly for comfort\n\n=== General information from the organizer: ===\n\n== About <mark>Nite</mark>Hike ==\nIs this your first time attending NiteHike? Have you never heard of NiteHike before? Welcome! NiteHike is an all night hike through Pacific Spirit Park near UBC. Participants register in self assigned groups of 4-7 youth plus at least two leaders and hike the approximately 18km of trails in the dark and compete in activity stations for points! The hike group with the most amount of points is declared the winner\, and has their Group name engraved on the NiteHike trophy for all time! NiteHike usually has around 600 hikers\, and 20-22 activity stations\, and groups can complete as many or as few stations as they want. Youth from Girl Guides\, Scouts Canada\, and Boy Scouts of America are welcome to attend\, with hikers ranging from ages 8 to 80! Most groups that complete the entire event are around 12-14 years of age\, and some groups manage to run the entire trail network to try and finish before midnight!\n\n== Important Things of Note ==\n* <mark>Nite</mark>Hike is an overnight hike with activity stations through the woods. There is no base camp for your group or anything to that effect.\n* Each hike group is 4-7 youth plus two leaders. Groups with less youth may have to partner up. Groups of more than seven will be broken up\, but will still hike together.\n* <mark>Nite</mark>Hike welcomes members of Scouts and Guides ages 8 and up. We have special routes for the younger sections so they can get their feet wet without hiking the entire park.\n* All hike group members must be registered members of their respective organizations. We do sometimes ask for proof. Also make sure you have medical forms with you.\n* Your group is welcome to do as few or as many stations as you want. If you're too tired and cranky\, it's best you call it a night\, lest the group hate the activity in the future.\n* This is a hike. In the woods. In the dark. The trails are not lit\, and could be wet / muddy / cold. Please make sure you dress appropriately\, and bring a decent source of light. Your cell phone doesn't count\, and won't last the whole night anyways.\n* Bring a travel mug! We have hot chocolate stations throughout the park\, as well as a couple places where you can fill up a water bottle\, so make sure you bring drinking vessels!\n* We also have hot dogs! Each participant receives two tickets (good for two hot dogs) that they can 'spend' at any hot dog station they want. You still will want to bring a snack.\n* Read the rules! They can be found in a somewhat easy to read format at this location.\n* Make sure you bring at least a change of socks\, and enough dry clothes to get you through the night. Your Scouters should be able to help you prepare your kit.\n* If you make it through the night (or even if you don't)\, each participant at the end of the night will receive a <mark>Nite</mark>Hike badge and a donut.\n\nFor more details on this ScoutsTracker event\, go to\nhttps://scoutstracker.ca/scouts/view?event=1-468-138734590119474-6e32e20c966dca5f9062
