I'm moving from a Google documents based storage to a more traditional SQL database. Google API requests were slow (about 1-2 seconds per query), and their servers suffered from far too many 15-minute outages. But the net result is that you'll find performance to be distinctly more peppy during “Loading badge details” and when synchronizing updates.
I've delayed fetching and caching of some data (particluarly images) until they're actually required. This will speed up the off-line application caching (characterized by the “Updating application…” message)
Various bug fixes.
